Six of Moldova\u2019s organic agricultural companies will offer prospective customers from hundreds of countries a taste of high-quality and flavorful Moldovan-produced organic food products at the world\u2019s largest organic foods trade exhibition next week.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The companies are among a\ndelegation from the Moldova\u2019s Organic Value Chain Alliance (MOVCA) taking part\nin BioFach 2019, to be held February 13-16 in Nuremberg, Germany. More than 3,200\norganic foods exhibitors are expected to participate in BioFach 2019, which typically\nattracts more than 50,000 visitors. All organic foods displayed at BioFach must\nmeet European Union organic standards. MOVCA is a non-governmental,\nmembership-based association for organic agricultural and food products in the\nRepublic of Moldova. MOVCA\u2019s members include growers, shippers, processors,\nfarmers\u2019 associations, distributors, importers, exporters, consultants, retailers,\nconsumers and others.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cWe believe that as relatively\nnew market entrants, Moldova\u2019s organic producers can deliver both attractive\npricing and quality to customers around the world,\u201d said Alexi Micu, executive\ndirector of MOVCA. \u201cMoldova has great products to offer to our customers and we\nare committed to doing everything possible to deliver cereals, fruits, nuts,\nwines and more that meet all organic production standards.\u201d <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Mr. Micu also said that the\nEuropean Commission has recently recognized the Republic of Moldova, as a\nmember of the Eastern Partnership, as on par for meeting specific organic marketing\nstandards that are the equivalent of EU requirements. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Ela Malai, Ph. D., vice general director of the Republic of Moldova\u2019s National Agency of Food Safety (ANSA), a Ministry of Agriculture division responsible for ensuring that organic certification standards are met, also will be part of the BioFach delegation. Representatives of the country\u2019s seed industry also will attend, as will one of Moldova\u2019s leading organic pioneers, Boris Boincean, who is MOVCA\u2019s president. In addition, Mr. Micu will deliver an educational presentation during the BioFach Congress describing Moldova\u2019s development as an organic agriculture producer and its market opportunities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Also participating is Control\nUnion Dnjestr SRL, an independent third-party organization which provides\norganic certification for nearly half of MOVCA\u2019s members.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
MOVCA\u2019s participation in BioFach\n2019 is supported by Lichtenstein Development Service (LED), People in Need\nMoldova and the Agency of Investment of Moldova.
